Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-05-15

Heads up: This document is a plain-English description of how the service works and the terms that apply to your use of it. It is NOT legal advice and the operator should have a lawyer review it before relying on it for commercial use.

1. Acceptance

By creating an APInonymous account, contributing an API key, or making API calls through the service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

2. The service

APInonymous (the "Service") is a proxy that pools OpenRouter API keys contributed by users and routes API calls through randomly-selected keys to provide pseudonymous LLM API access. The Service is provided AS IS, with no guarantees of uptime, accuracy, or availability.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. You must comply with the OpenRouter Terms of Service, OpenAI usage policies, and the policies of any upstream model provider whose models you call through the Service. You are responsible for ensuring your use of routed models complies with all applicable provider policies.

4. Your account and proxy_key

Upon signup, the Service issues you a proxy_key. The Service stores this key in a way it can verify but cannot recover or display to you again after the initial issuance. If you lose your proxy_key, your account, balance, and contributed key are unrecoverable. You are solely responsible for safekeeping your proxy_key. Anyone with possession of your proxy_key can spend your balance and access your account.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:
  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose, or to generate content that violates applicable law
  • Use the Service to harass, defame, or infringe rights of others
  • Attempt to circumvent the monthly cap, surcharge, rate limits, or any other Service mechanisms
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service or its infrastructure
  • Attempt to identify other users by correlating routing patterns or any other means
  • Sell or transfer your account or proxy_key to a third party
  • Use automated scrapers against the public stats or any non-API endpoint
  • Attempt to use the Service to bypass restrictions imposed by upstream model providers

6. Your contributed key

When you sign up by contributing an OpenRouter API key, you authorize the Service to:
  • Encrypt your key at rest using AES-256-GCM
  • Periodically validate that the key is still active by querying OpenRouter
  • Use the key to forward LLM API calls submitted by other Service users, up to your declared monthly cap
  • Bill those calls to your OpenRouter account directly
You may pause your contribution at any time from Settings. Pausing does not refund OpenRouter charges already incurred. You are responsible for monitoring your OpenRouter spending and adjusting your monthly cap or pausing if needed. The Service enforces your declared cap on a best-effort basis but does not guarantee absolute prevention of overage.

7. Token barter and surcharge

The Service operates as a token barter system. Each routed call results in:
  • The caller's balance being debited by the actual cost plus a 2% surcharge
  • The owner of the routing key being credited with the actual cost
  • The 2% surcharge being retained by the operator to fund the operation of the site
Token amounts are denominated in microdollars (1,000,000 credits = USD 1.00 of upstream provider cost). No money changes hands between users. The operator does not facilitate refunds, exchange tokens for cash, or guarantee any particular conversion rate to fiat currency. Tokens have no cash value.

8. Welcome grant

New contributors are credited with a welcome grant that unlocks once their key has handled a configured number of routed calls from other users. The grant is provided AS IS, has no cash value, and may be adjusted, capped, or rescinded at the operator's discretion.

9. Balance expiration

Inactive balances (no inbound or outbound activity for 90 days) may be drained into the operator reserve. "Activity" includes any successful routed call to or from your account. You can keep your balance active by making at least one call every 90 days.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. THE OPERATOR DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. THE OPERATOR DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ROUTED RESPONSES WILL BE ACCURATE, RELIABLE, OR FREE FROM HARMFUL CONTENT. UPSTREAM MODEL PROVIDERS (OPENROUTER, OPENAI, ANTHROPIC, ETC.) ARE THIRD PARTIES AND THE OPERATOR DOES NOT CONTROL THEIR OUTPUTS.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL THE OPERATOR BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF THE OPERATOR HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. THE OPERATOR'S TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THIS AGREEMENT OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED USD 100, OR THE AGGREGATE FEES YOU PAID THE OPERATOR IN THE LAST 30 DAYS, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the operator from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any third-party rights, or your violation of any upstream provider's terms of service.

13. Termination

The operator may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms, suspected fraud, or abuse. Upon termination, your unused balance is forfeited and the operator has no obligation to refund any tokens, credits, or upstream-provider charges. You may close your account at any time by ceasing use; your contributed key can be paused via Settings.

14. Privacy

The Service does not log prompts, completions, or API call content. The Service does log metadata necessary for billing and operations: timestamps, token counts, model names, request IDs, and the IDs of the caller and routing key. The operator may correlate this metadata in the course of investigating fraud or abuse. The Service does not require email, phone, or any personally identifiable information at signup; if you choose to contact the operator (e.g., via GitHub issues), any information you provide is your responsibility.

15. Changes to these terms

The operator may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Commercial Arbitration Rules. You and the operator waive any right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

18. Contact

For questions, complaints, or DMCA notices, open an issue on the GitHub repository (link in the navigation bar) or contact the operator via the address listed there.

By signing up, you acknowledge that you have read and agreed to these Terms.
